March 8 in Latvia

Nella Lettonia indipendente solo nel 2007, dopo anni di resistance, the parliament approved an amendment to the law establishing the holidays, taking on 8 March as International Women's Day.
In Latvia, 2011 March 8 is celebrated by one in five women, because of the economic crisis and the difficult financial situation of many families.
Riga Mayor UĊĦakov has used more than 14 000 lats (about € 20,000) to celebrate the March 8, in various parts of the city putting up giant posters of greetings to the women of Riga
